๐ฟ 1 tablespoon sumac
๐ฏ Tortillas, pita bread, or flatbread
๐
Tomatoes, sliced
๐ฅ Pickles, sliced
๐ง Trader Joeโs garlic dip or your preferred garlic sauce
Instructions
1- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a large bowl, combine the white vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, chili flakes, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
2- Marinate the Chicken:
- Add the sliced chicken breast to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight for maximum flavor.
3- Cook the Chicken:
- Heat a skillet over high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until all the liquid evaporates and the chicken is thoroughly cooked, with a golden sear, about 10-12 minutes.
4- Make the Sumac Onions:
- In a separate bowl, combine the sliced red onion with chopped parsley and sumac. Toss gently to mix and let it sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
5- Assemble the Shawarma Wraps:
- Lay out your choice of wrap (tortilla, pita, or flatbread). Spread a generous amount of garlic dip or sauce on the bread.
- Add the cooked chicken, sumac onions, sliced tomatoes, and pickles on top. Roll the wrap tightly.
6- Toast the Wraps:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the wrapped shawarma onto the skillet and toast on both sides until golden and crisp.
7- Serve:
- Serve the shawarma wraps immediately, enjoying the warm, aromatic flavors.
