Whether you're familiar with Kurdish delights or trying something new, Giveish is sure to impress with its savory essence and unique presentation.

Ingredients

๐Ÿฅฉ 4 cups ground beef
๐Ÿš 3 cups basmati rice
๐Ÿง„ 1 head of garlic, finely chopped
๐Ÿ” 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon
๐Ÿง‚ 1 tablespoon salt
๐ŸŒถ๏ธ 1 tablespoon black pepper
๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ 1/2 cup oil (any kind will do)
๐Ÿ’ง 3 1/2 cups hot water
๐Ÿฅ” 3 potatoes, sliced

Instructions

1- Prepare the Rice:

  • Thoroughly wash the basmati rice until the water runs clear to remove excess starch. Drain well.

2- Combine the Ingredients:

  • In a large bowl, mix the drained rice with the ground beef, chopped garlic, chicken bouillon, salt, and black pepper. Ensure all ingredients are well combined.

3- Heat the Oil:

  • In a small pot, heat the 1/2 cup of oil until itโ€™s smoking hot. Carefully pour the hot oil over the rice and beef mixture. Mix well to incorporate the hot oil throughout.

4- Form the Giveish:

  • Line the bottom of a large pot with the sliced potatoes.
  • Scoop about two tablespoons of the rice and beef mixture into your hand, forming it into an oval, football-like shape.
  • Place each shaped giveish onto the layer of potatoes. Repeat until all of the mixture is used.

5- Cook the Giveish:

  • Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high. Cook for 10 minutes.
  • Pour 3 1/2 cups of hot water over the giveish. The water should just cover them.
  • Cover the pot with a lid and let it cook until the water evaporates.
  • Reduce the heat to low and allow the giveish to cook for an additional 25 to 30 minutes.

6- Serve:

  • Once cooked, carefully flip the pot onto a serving plate, similar to flipping makloubah.
  • Accompany the dish with onions sprinkled with sumac, parsley, lemon slices, and a drizzle of lemon juice for enhanced flavor.
