Ingredients

🥩 1.5 pounds ground beef
🧅 1 large onion, chopped
🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
🌶️ 2 packets taco seasoning
🥄 1 teaspoon chili flakes
💧 1/2 cup water
🥙 Flour tortillas
🧀 Shredded cheese (your choice)
🌮 Hard taco shells
🥬 Lettuce, shredded
🍅 Tomatoes, diced
🍶 Sour cream


Instructions

1- Prepare the Beef Filling:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it's browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef, sautéing for a couple of minutes until the onion is translucent and the garlic fragrant.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning, chili flakes, and water. Mix well to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cover and let it cook on low heat for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

2- Prepare the Tortillas:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the flour tortillas on a baking tray. Sprinkle a generous amount of cheese over each tortilla.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese has melted (about 5 minutes).

3- Assemble the Gorditas:

  • Remove the cheesy tortillas from the oven. Place a hard taco shell in the center of each tortilla.
  • Carefully fold the sides of the tortilla up and around the taco shell, creating a snug, cheesy wrap.

4- Stuff and Serve:

  • Fill each gordita with the beef filling, a sprinkle of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, more cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy every crunchy, cheesy bite!
