π§ 1/2 teaspoon salt
πΆοΈ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
πΏ 1/2 teaspoon thyme (fresh or dried)
Instructions
1- Prepare the Stuffing Mix:
- In a bowl, combine the stuffing mix with milk and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the stuffing to absorb the milk.
2- Mix the Ingredients:
- Add the ground beef, egg, minced onions and garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika to the stuffing mix.
- Use your hands to mix until the ingredients are well combined.
- Shape the mixture into 8 equal portions, pressing them firmly into circles or oval patties.
3- Cook the Steaks:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steaks to the hot oil and cook for 2 minutes on each side until browned. (They will still be raw inside.)
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid crowding the skillet.
4- Prepare the Gravy:
- In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook for 2 minutes until slightly translucent.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for another 4-5 minutes until they turn golden.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables, stirring constantly for about 1 minute.
5- Finish the Gravy:
- Slowly pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and thyme.
- Mix well until everything is combined and the mixture begins to simmer.
6- Combine Steaks with Gravy:
- Return the steaks and any juices on the plate back to the skillet with gravy.
- Continue to cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened and the steaks are cooked through, stirring occasionally around the steaks.
7- Serve:
- Serve the Salisbury steaks topped with the mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes. Pair with some steamed vegetables on the side for a complete meal.
