Ingredients
🍗 1 pound ground chicken
🥟 Dumpling wrappers (store-bought)
🥕 1/2 cup minced carrots
🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
🌿 1 tablespoon minced ginger
🌱 Handful of cilantro, chopped
🟤 2 tablespoons soy sauce
🥄 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
🌽 1 tablespoon cornstarch
🧂 1/2 teaspoon salt
⚫ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🛢️ 3 tablespoons oil (for frying)
💧 1 cup water (for steaming)
Instructions
1- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, minced carrots, garlic, ginger, cilantro, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
2- Assemble the Potstickers:
- Take one dumpling wrapper at a time and wet the edges with a little water.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the wrapper to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges to seal. You can pleat the edges once or twice, based on preference, to ensure they are well sealed.
3- Cook the Potstickers:
- Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over high heat.
- Arrange the filled dumplings in the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
- Fry the bottom of the dumplings until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes.
- Once golden, carefully pour 1 cup of water into the skillet.
- Immediately cover the skillet with a lid and allow the dumplings to steam for 5-7 minutes, or until all the water has evaporated and the filling is cooked through.
4- Finish and Serve:
- Remove the lid and let the dumplings continue to cook for 1-2 minutes to crisp up the bottoms again.
- Serve immediately with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as a soy sauce mixed with red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and chopped scallions.
