Ingredients
🥛 5 cups milk

Instructions
1- Prepare the Milk Base:
- In a large saucepan, combine the milk and sugar.
- Whisk well to dissolve the sugar completely.
- Place the pan over medium heat and let it slowly come to a simmer.
2- Separate Egg Yolks:
- While the milk is heating, separate the egg yolks from the whites.
- Use a wire skimmer or your preferred method to ensure clean separation.
3- Create the Egg Mixture:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks with cornstarch.
- Whisk vigorously until well mixed and the yolks have a lighter color.
4- Temper the Eggs:
- Once the milk mixture is simmering, remove one ladle of hot milk.
- Slowly pour it into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Repeat with another ladle of hot milk, ensuring the mixture remains smooth.
5- Combine and Thicken Custard:
- Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk.
- Continue to cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture begins to thicken and comes to a boil.
6- Add Flavor and Color:
- Once thickened, remove the pan from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- For a deeper yellow color, add 1-2 drops of yellow food coloring, if desired, and mix thoroughly.
