Hummus is a timeless favorite that blends the rich, nutty flavor of chickpeas with the tanginess of lemon and the creaminess of tahini. Perfect as a dip, spread, or side dish, this simple recipe is both delicious and versatile.
Ingredients
🥫 2 cans (15.5 oz each) of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
🧄 2 to 4 garlic cloves (adjust to taste)
🍋 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
🍶 1/4 cup of tahini
🫒 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
🧂 1 teaspoon of salt
❄️ 3 ice cubes
Instructions
1- Prepare the Ingredients:
Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly under cold water to remove excess salt and preservatives.
Peel the garlic cloves and set aside.
2- Blend the Ingredients:
In a high-powered blender or food processor, combine the chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, salt, and ice cubes.
Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides occasionally to ensure an even texture.
3- Adjust Consistency:
- If the hummus is too thick, add a bit of water or olive oil in small amounts until you reach the desired consistency.
4- Serve and Garnish:
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl.
Garnish with a sprinkle of paprika, a few reserved chickpeas, fresh parsley, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for an authentic touch.
5- Enjoy:
- Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a spread on sandwiches. Enjoy your homemade hummus as a tasty and healthy snack!
