🥛 1 cup whole milk (warmed, microwave for 1 minute)
🍂 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
🍬 1/4 cup sugar
🥚 2 eggs
🧂 2 teaspoons salt
🧈 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
🍯 1 tablespoon unsalted melted butter (for brushing the top of rolls once out of the oven)

For the Egg Wash:
🥚 1 egg
💧 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

1- Mix Ingredients:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, and eggs.

2- Initial Mixing:

  • Attach the dough hook to the mixer and set it to low speed.
  • Mix until the flour is fully incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

3- Blend in Butter:

  • Increase the mixer's speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes.
  • Gradually add the softened butter and continue mixing on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and the butter is fully incorporated.

4- First Rise:

  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl.
  • Cover it with plastic wrap and a towel.
  • Allow the dough to rise at room temperature until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.

5- Deflate Dough:

  • Gently deflate the risen dough by punching it down lightly.

6- Shape Rolls:

  • Divide the dough into 8 to 12 equal pieces based on your preference.
  • Roll each piece into a ball.

7- Second Rise:

  • Place the balls into a lightly greased baking dish.
  • Cover with a towel and let them rise for another hour at room temperature until they're puffy.

8- Preheat & Egg Wash:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the egg and water for the egg wash.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with this mixture.

9- Bake & Finish:

  • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Once out of the oven, brush the hot rolls with melted butter and serve warm.
