Ingredients

🥮 1 package of phyllo dough
🧀 15oz whole milk ricotta cheese
🧈 2 sticks of unsalted butter

🍬 2 cups of sugar
💧 2 cups of water
🍋 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Instructions

1- Prepare the Simple Syrup:

• In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water.
• Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
• Stir the mixture and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
• Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes until it slightly thickens.
• Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

2- Preheat the Oven:

3- Prepare the Phyllo Dough:

• Take one sheet of dough and fold it into thirds horizontally.

4- Fill and Fold the Warbat:

• Place a spoonful of ricotta cheese near one end of the folded phyllo sheet.
• Fold the dough into a triangle shape, similar to folding a flag, until you reach the end of the strip.
• Repeat this process until all the dough and ricotta cheese are used, forming about 16 triangles.

5- Butter the Warbat:

• Melt the two sticks of unsalted butter.
• Arrange the filled phyllo triangles on a baking tray.
• Pour the melted butter generously over all the triangles, ensuring they are well-coated.

6- Bake:

• Place the baking tray in the preheated oven.
• Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the Warbat are golden brown and crispy.

7- Add the Simple Syrup:

• Once baked, remove the tray from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
• Pour the cooled simple syrup over the warm Warbat, allowing the syrup to soak in and add sweetness to each bite.

8- Serve:
