Ingredients
For the Bamia Stew:
🥩 1 pound of stew meat (sprinkled with a little bit of salt)

🌿 1 14oz bag of baby okra
🧅 1 onion

🌶️ 2 green chilies or 1 jalapeño
🍅 1 6oz can of tomato paste
🍅 1 tomato
🐔 1 tablespoon of chicken bouillon
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
🧂 1 teaspoon of salt
🥣 2 cups of beef broth
💧 2 cups of water
For the Rice:
🍚 3 cups of basmati rice (washed and soaked in warm water for 30 minutes)
🫒 3 tablespoons of oil
🧂 1 tablespoon of salt
💧 3 cups of hot water
Instructions
1- Prepare the Stew Meat:
- Begin by sprinkling salt over the stew meat. Place the meat in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water.
- Pressure cook the meat for about 35 minutes until tender.
2- Prepare the Bamia Stew:
- In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent and fragrant.
- Add the chilies or jalapeño, followed by the baby okra. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste and chopped tomato, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken bouillon, black pepper, salt, beef broth, and 2 cups of water.
- Add the cooked stew meat to the mixture, stir well, and bring to a boil.
- Cover and let the stew simmer for 25 minutes, allowing flavors to meld together.
3- Prepare the Rice:
- In a separate pot, heat 3 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Stir the rice gently, allowing each grain to be coated with oil.
- Add 1 tablespoon of salt and 3 cups of hot water to the rice.
- Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low once most of the water is evaporated.
- Cover and cook for an additional 15 minutes until the rice is fluffy and fully cooked.
