Banana bread is a classic comfort food, and this version with chocolate chips is even more indulgent and satisfying. Using a box of yellow cake mix as a base makes this recipe remarkably easy, ensuring you get delicious results every time with minimal effort. Ripe bananas add natural sweetness and moisture, while a generous helping of chocolate chips makes each bite irresistible.
Ingredients
📦 1 box of yellow cake mix
🧈 1 stick of butter, melted
🍌 3 overripe bananas, mashed
🥚 2 eggs
🍶 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
🍫 1 cup chocolate chips
🧴 Cooking spray (for the loaf pan)
Instructions
1- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2- Prepare Your Loaf Pan:
- Spray your loaf pan with cooking spray to ensure the banana bread doesn’t stick.
3- Mash the Bananas:
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the overripe bananas until they form a purée.
4- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas.
- Stir thoroughly until well combined.
5- Combine with Cake Mix:
- Gradually add the yellow cake mix to the banana mixture.
- Stir with a spatula until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
6- Add Chocolate Chips:
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
7- Pour and Bake:
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- If you have additional batter, you can also use a muffin tin to make banana muffins.
- Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
8- Baking Time:
- Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.
- If using a muffin pan, check for doneness at around 20 minutes.
- To ensure the loaf is baked thoroughly, insert a toothpick in the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs but not raw batter.
9- Cooling:
- Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
