Ingredients
🫒 2 tablespoons olive oil
🧈 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
🧅 1 medium onion, diced
🌶️ 1 red bell pepper, diced
🌶️ 1 orange bell pepper, diced
🌿 2 stalks of celery, chopped
🧄 4 cloves garlic, minced
🥩 1 pound ground beef
🥄 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon
🌶️ 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere's)
🌶️ 1 tablespoon paprika
🧄 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
🧄 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
🌶️ 1 teaspoon chili powder
🧈 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for rice)
🍚 2 cups basmati or long-grain rice, rinsed
🍗 4 cups chicken broth
🌿 Scallions for garnish
Instructions
1- Prepare the Pan and Sauté:
- Heat a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add 2 tablespoons of butter and olive oil.
2- Cook the Vegetables:
- Add the diced onion, red and orange bell peppers, celery, and minced garlic.
- Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
3- Brown the Beef:
- Stir in the ground beef, along with the chicken bouillon, Cajun seasoning, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and chili powder.
- Cook, stirring often, until the beef is browned and fully cooked, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
- Remove the beef mixture from the pan and set aside.
4- Prepare the Rice:
- In the same pan, melt 2 more tablespoons of butter.
- Add the rinsed rice and sauté for about 2 minutes.
5- Simmer the Ingredients:
- Pour in the chicken broth.
- Cover and allow it to simmer until the liquid has reduced.
6- Cook the Rice Thoroughly:
- Reduce the heat to very low, cover the pan, and let the rice cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
7- Combine and Serve:
- Once the rice is ready, fluff it with a fork.
- Return the ground beef mixture to the pan, and gently mix until thoroughly combined.
8- Garnish and Enjoy:
- Garnish with sliced scallions.
