Ingredients
🌰 1/3 cup raw almonds
🥜 1/3 cup pecans or walnuts
🌿 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
🍯 1/3 cup simple syrup
🍂 1 package of phyllo shells (15 cups)
🍯 1 cup of simple syrup (for drizzling on top)
🌹 Edible roses for garnish (optional)
For Simple Syrup:
🍬 2 cups sugar
💧 1 cup water
🍋 1 teaspoon lemon juice
🌼 1 teaspoon orange blossom water or rose water (optional)
Instructions
1- Prepare the Simple Syrup:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then let it simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- If desired, add orange blossom water or rose water for a floral accent.
- Remove from heat and let the syrup cool. The syrup can be made ahead and stored in a cool place.
2- Prepare the Nut Mixture:
- Use a food processor to crush the raw almonds and pecans (or walnuts) until coarse.
- Combine the crushed nuts with cinnamon and 1/3 cup of the prepared simple syrup. Mix well to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
3- Assemble the Baklava Bites:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Arrange the phyllo shells on a baking tray.
- Fill each shell with approximately 1 teaspoon of the nut mixture.
4- Bake and Finish:
- Bake the filled shells in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, until golden and fragrant.
- Once out of the oven, generously drizzle each baklava bite with the remaining simple syrup to soak in the sweetness.
- Garnish with edible roses if desired, for a touch of elegance.
